Meat Market
Built in 1880, Meat Market is a grade one heritage-listed building with enormous character and history. An iconic landmark of Melbourne’s early meat trade, Meat Market features four distinctive spaces boasting intricacies unique to 19th and 20th century Melbourne.
A dedicated arts, cultural, community and performance venue, Meat Market offers a variety of spaces ideal for creative developments, community events, performance seasons, rehearsals, exhibitions, filming, meetings, conferences and more.
The Main Pavilion, comprising of the Flat Floor and Cobblestone Pavilions, features original cobblestone floors and a grand barrel vaulted ceiling. Meat Market’s Stables, with blank white walls and a black floor, is ideal for theatre seasons and exhibitions. The Meeting Room features versatile and configurable furniture plus technical and AV equipment available for use.
Located in North Melbourne, Meat Market houses over 50 creative practitioners in 30 offices licensed through Creative Spaces. Licensees range from writers and arts organisations to festivals and musicians that call Meat Market home.
