Space overview
First developed in the 1860s, the reservoirs at Waterworks Reserve capture the flow of creeks and rivers falling from the higher slopes of Mt Wellington.
Channelled through a network of stone and timber troughs, the waters arrive at the receiving house, where an informative display explains the curious history of this important and historic site. There a number of sites available. Tree-shaded lawns and children's play areas are popular for picnics and barbeques and provide the perfect backdrop for light installations, creative community events, poetry readings, photography, musical performances, painting and drawing workshops as well as site specific theatrical performances. Site 2 and 9 provide picnic shelters. Please refer to our website for fees and charges and to make a booking.
