Space overview
TheySwarm studios for diverse artists - is located on Johnston Street, Collingwood in a lovely two-storey shopfront heritage terrace above TextaQueen's studio and TheySwarm artist residency space.
This is a private and large, lockable space with two windows for natural sunlight, high ceilings and beautiful old polished floorboards. 3.5 x 5.8 m. There is lots of storage and a built in desk. Trestle table, chairs, portable fan and space heater are available for use. The bathroom downstairs is for artists in the two upstairs studios and visitors. Access to building is via pushbutton keypad on exterior and electronic keypad on interior door. The studio is lockable via padlock on door, with a latch for privacy on interior.
We're 500 m to either train or tram, with a bus stop directly outside. We're close to coffee, 500 m from Smith Street food and buzz.

Accessibility: TheySwarm's long term goal is for the ground floor studio to be wheelchair accessible, via ongoing fundraising. Currently there is one small step to enter the building (step-free soon), ground floor bathroom is step-free. This studio is upstairs via 21 stairs. This is a low scent (no solvents or oil paints) and COVID cautious space due to other artist's chemical sensitivities and risk.
Entrance to the upstairs studios is via the downstairs shopfront studio.
There are two timid low-allergen cats who may appear - downstairs and in upstairs hall. Plus a friendly chihuahua who is often in the downstairs studio.
Air purifier operates in downstairs studio. Mask to be worn through entrance, downstairs studio and in hall.
