Space overview
Jacky Winter Gardens is a private guesthouse and creative retreat set amidst a half-acre of stunning gardens and natural bushland in Belgrave, Victoria. Whether you want a weekend away from the city, a longer holiday in the hills, or a sanctum where you can work and create undisturbed, we provide a home away from home that is both tranquil and invigorating. At Jacky Winter we pride ourselves on skilfully mixing art and commerce, and The Jacky Winter Gardens Artist-in-Residence Program is a further expression of this. We want to offer time and space for the development and creation of new work, or the continuation of an existing project. Each month from March to November we have set aside five days (Sunday afternoon through Friday morning) to donate the entire private use of the whole property to accommodate a working artist who can use the time to start, sustain or finish a commercial project. Nine residencies are given out every year to professional creatives of all disciplines. Applications are free, and are taken four times per year on our main website - jackywintergardens.com This is a self-directed residency, with the only acquittal requirement being a one-page statement upon the completion of the residency, telling us broadly what you have worked on. We also ask you acknowledge Jacky Winter Gardens as a part of any completed projects worked on during your time here. Residents will pay for their own food and transport during their stay, but there are no other fees associated with the residency. Contact us for further details, including application dates and forms.
