Space overview
Subterranean venue housed in one of Australia’s finest examples of English Gothic Revival architecture. This "five-star dive bar" embodies a blend of design contradictions, combining brutalist elements with luxurious textures. Winner of the '24 Australian Interior Design Awards: Hospitality Design.
The volume is divided into two areas: the bar and the lounge. The bar features stainless steel, smoked mirror glass, and concrete, adorned with vibrant punk artwork. The lounge exudes sophistication with velour drapery, deep-pile carpets, plush seating, and Carrara stone tables. The venue boasts versatility with a perimeter banquette and intimate corner settings. Loose dining tables, chairs, and ottomans can be easily reconfigured or removed, enhancing flexibility for setups. Lighting Control: The design allows for manipulation of artificial lighting, with options for bounce, diffusion, and spotlighting (there is no access to natural light). Acoustics: The underground location provides sound isolation, making it ideal for video shoots requiring clear audio. Access: A dedicated lift and loading dock facilitate transport of heavy equipment, while power outlets enable easy setup for lighting and cameras. Project Credits: Design by Studio Massive and Latitude Group.
