Off the Kerb Gallery
Space overview
Off the Kerb, located in Collingwood is an Artist Run Initiative platforming emerging to mid-career local creatives. Off the Kerb offers Melbourne a unique gathering of experimental and commercial contemporary creative practices.
Off the Kerb is a two-storey Victorian building with a large shop front window. There are 4 exhibition spaces: front gallery, back gallery, side gallery & upstairs gallery.. The front gallery has the large floor to ceiling front windows, making artwork clearly visible from the street and giving exhibitions extra exposure. The back gallery is great for more intimate works complete with a Victorian fire place, which can be incorporated into artworks in various ways. The smaller sizes of the side and upstairs galleries make them suitable for video and sound work or small scale pieces .The upstairs gallery also has windows overlooking Johnston Street. The side gallery is unique as it is the only space which has white wooden floor boards. Off the Kerb has bar facilities with a liquor license and bathroom facilities. Off the Kerb has flexible, superior quality gallery track lighting. There is an outdoor courtyard open to the public.
Off the Kerb is located on Johnston Street opposite the famous Keith Haring mural, Collingwood Yards and the Tote bar.
