Space overview
The Motley Bauhaus is multi-disciplinary arts venue in Carlton. We support a lively arts community with our blackbox theatre, cabaret stage, large gallery, recording studio, and two bar areas. We have several studio spaces available for private hire on the 1st floor of this local artist's hang out.
Available Studios: (1) 15.5m2 - timber finishing, floorboards, no windows. Perfect for artist's workshop, musician or actors rehearsal space etc. (2) 13.5m2 - 2 windows looking out over Elgin St and the city. Floorboards, Exposed brick and distressed paint aesthetic. Perfect for artist's workshop, musician or actors rehearsal space etc. (3) 4m2 - Our smallest studio, Sth facing window and an attached storage area. Floorboards, exposed brick and distressed paint aesthetic. Best suited for those working at a desk. These beautiful spaces suit most practices. We're looking for someone to take them on a longer term basis and become one of our resident artists. Renting any of the studios also gives you access to all of our other facilities such as booking the theatre or recording studio for one off projects, meeting in our bar area, or just relaxing with a drink with other artist's and patrons about. We're open for events Tues-Sat.
Situated on the corner of Rathdowne and Elgin St, Carlton, near the hustle and bustle of Lygon St Italian strip, La Mama Theatre, and multiple tram lines.
