Boyd Studio-1 residencies support artists in all artforms and practices that don’t require heavy machinery, extractor fans, open flames or generate loud noise.
• Studio-1 specifications: a fifty seven square metre studio with large windows, good natural light, wooden floors, high ceilings, sink and wireless internet connection. Not suitable for suspension (due to the heritage nature of the building).
• Artist fee payment per residency: $5,000 (plus studio space at no cost, valued at $4,976 per residency).
• Residencies available: two, each of six months duration.
• Access: Successful applicants will have 24/7 access to the studio and Boyd building facilities and are required to use the studio at least three days a week.
Boyd is a City of Melbourne integrated community service space, housing the Southbank Library, a cafe, family services, meeting rooms and artist studios. This studio is only available through City of Melbourne Annual Arts Grants. There are no residency opportunities available for 2024.
