About
I’m a writer, editor, teacher and mentor based at River Studios, West Melbourne. I’m currently exploring speculative fiction as a jumping-off point for queer storytelling, auto-theory, nonfiction and experimental forms under the working title ‘Schimmervoyage’. Other ongoing personal projects include the ‘Field Work’ series of intimate essays and the ‘Apostrophe’ project, a collaborative experiment with trans* activist, writer and producer Alex Lee. I’m also a sessional lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music (VCA/MCM), University of Melbourne, where I help students develop their practice-led research and associated writing.
Other work underway at the moment includes private mentoring; facilitating the Queer Across Generations writing group; co-producing and co-facilitating (with Alex Lee) ‘A Thousand Threads: Stories of Us’, a series of collaborative storytelling workshops for trans* and gender-diverse people; and contributing to the renewal and revitalisation of queer performance space and community cultural hub, Harehole Melbourne, as a member of the Director’s Table – commissioning new queer performance under the Generation Festival moniker – and through mentoring arts workers and volunteers in the renewed organisation. My studio at River provides space to spread out and juggle all these projects and headspace to think things through and make them happen.
