About
Stu began his journey as a passionate young drummer and guitarist at the age of 10. Now with over two decades of music industry experience, Stu has played in countless bands, securing Triple J and Triple M airplay with The Playbook and The Spinset, and sharing the stage with many notable acts such as The Story So Far, Neck Deep and Real Friends.
Stu obtained his Advanced Diploma in Music Industry Skills (Technical Production) which helped him gain an ear for frequencies and a knack for quick decision making, and has since had live mixing experience at some of Melbourne’s premier venues, such as The Corner Hotel, The Evelyn, Cherry Bar, Laundry Bar and The Bendigo Hotel.
As a producer and engineer, Stu has worked closely with numerous bands and artists alongside his own projects to create extremely high quality products both sonically and musically, amassing over 2 million streams from his catalogue. Stu gets the best out of the artists he works with via a personalised approach, providing them with honest feedback and supportive suggestions to ensure that productivity, quality and client satisfaction are consistently high.
Stu's role as Head Sound Engineer at Marshall Street Studios has led him to working with hundreds of international and local artists such as hip hop superstar Lil Mosey, YouTube sensation Clariyah Bo$$, pop-rockers MOBS and more. Outside of engineering, Stu is committed to music education, hosting podcasts, holding Artist Coaching courses, mix lessons, workshops and school Field Trips.
Stu recently launched a podcast called What's That Sound?, where he interviews some of Australia's best engineers and producers. Available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, the podcast covers topics like how to have a successful session, hardware, plugins and features real world advice from years of experience in the Australian music industry.
