Ceramicist
Cinda Manins
About
Cinda is a contemporary ceramicist who hand builds abstract, expressionist, sculptural forms with a focus on surface, texture, modelling and mark making. Her pieces are assembled and combined with lighting, sound, and digital photography, to create landscape installations. She pursues a narrative exploring contrasting concepts of time (eg. biological vs geological) and comments on the relationship between humanity and the Earth. As the daughter of a leading CSIRO climate scientist, Cinda feels deeply about the climate crisis and is committed to communicating her position through creativity. Her ceramic surfaces celebrate the scars of the past as authentic marks of lived experience and a pathway to growth and progress. Cinda is actively exhibiting in both group and solo exhibitions. She has a B.A. Anthropology, Film & Media, B.A. Ceramics, and a Graduate Diploma Museum Studies. She is a Resident Artist at Gasworks Arts Park.
She participates on the Committee of the Yarra Sculpture Gallery and is Artist Representative on the Board at Gasworks Arts Park.
