About Elke
Elke is a lens-based artist primarily working in photography and video. Her work is largely inspired by real-life events and she has a strong interest in lighting and the cinematic. The exploration of people, the unconscious and spaces feature frequently. The work is highly constructed and is a form of psychological mapping, rooted somewhere in the space between reality and fiction. Since her arrival in Australia Elke has exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra and Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery. Besides this, Elke undertakes a wide range of commissions for magazines, design agencies and commercial clients.
Elke mainly uses the studio space for experimentation and development of work as well as post production.
